It’s been three months since Yoo Jae Hwan first hit the spotlight through MBC‘s variety show “Infinite Challenge” and the hugely popular “2015 Infinite Challenge Music Festival.” He has made quite the name for himself in such a short time, being known not only for exuding positive energy on variety shows but also for earning the number one spot on the charts with his new song “Coffee.” The newly-debuted singer songwriter recently sat down for an interview with Newsen.
Right off the bat, Yoo Jae Hwan describes his ascent to stardom as something like a dream, and worries that he might wake up to find it’s all be a dream. When asked about what “Infinite Challenge” means to him, Yoo Jae Hwan replies, “It’s a program that changed my life. Just calling it a program doesn’t convey how much a gift it’s been in my life.”
Yoo Jae Hwan tells the interviewer that the reaction from the “Infinite Challenge” cast has been overwhelming to him, especially from Jung Hyung Don. “On the day of the festival, Jung Hyung Don came up to me and told me he was a fan of mine while shaking my hand. I found out later that Jung Hyung Don is usually more reserved around people on the first meeting, so I was touched that he was so kind to me like that.”
It’s well known that Yoo Jae Hwan is very close with Park Myung Soo, and the interviewer asks him, “You recently said on a radio show that you’ll always be friends with Park Myung Soo?”
Yoo Jae Hwan replies, “Yes, that’s right, and my feelings haven’t changed since I made that comment. I couldn’t do anything without him. He takes such good care of me and makes sure that anything I need prepared gets prepared. I want to repay his kindness.”
He continues, saying that Park Myung Soo always gives the same two pieces of advice: the first being, “You must always be humble, and not overdo it,” and the second being “things always come in order, but things do not always go in order,” warning Yoo Jae Hwan to carefully consider his actions in order to protect his image.
The interviewer then brings up his appearance on “My Little Television,” making the comment that it looked like Yoo Jae Hwan had a difficult time. Yoo Jae Hwan confesses that he isn’t as good as reacting to quickly-changing situations as Park Myung Soo and that he struggled. He says that since he still isn’t used to being on broadcast, he constantly worries about making mistakes, and that even though he has some things he regrets he treasures the experiences he’s had.
Yoo Jae Hwan wraps up the interview by revealing that he’s currently preparing a single, and thanks his fans for looking past his flaws. He promises to continue striving to be a kind and genuine person.
